Prospective students from three Jackson high schools – Callaway, Lanier and Provine –and from Vicksburg, Hazlehurst and Crystal Springs attended the annual “See Ya at the U” recruiting event on Nov. 11 at ’s Utica Campus.

Students were able to meet faculty, explore programs of study and tour the historic HBCU campus.

“It is important to have recruiting events on campus because it gives visitors a glimpse of the campus life and culture,” said event organizer and recruiter Donny Epting. “Our Utica Campus is a treasure chest of history, and this event enables us to expose all of its riches.”

Sherry Bellmon, Vice President of Instruction, Career & Technical Education, said the event is an example of fulfilling its mission of moving people and communities forward by helping develop their purpose, passion and profession. “Today is all about you,” she told the high school students. “ is committed to ensuring that our students successfully pursue their endeavors and are well equipped to compete locally and globally.”

Prospective students also received greetings from Miss Utica Teanna Howard of Memphis, Tenn., and Mr. Utica Ezekiel Harris of Canton Willie Perkins, Mathematics Instructor and Department Chair, served as the host for the event, which also featured food, games, music and a school spirit contest won by Lanier High School for being the most energetic group.
